Good-For-You Grains

 

IMG_4186My mom is doing a ketosis diet right now (eye roll) where she avoids grains like the plague. Little does she know how good they can be for you, as long as they’re whole grains! Ever since the Adkins diet has become popular, people have demonized carbohydrates, lumping them altogether even though not all are like! When I studied abroad in Spain, I never saw anyone obese and they seemed to have less illnesses than we do in the USA. Yet, some of their staple foods are bread, potatoes, rice, and pasta! So, rather than subjecting yourself to a life without Plant-Based Pizza, you can eat grains and still maintain a healthy diet! Below I’ve posted a list of some of my favorite grains, and recipes to celebrate carbs!

Good-For-You Grains

  • Quinoa (GF)
  • Brown Rice (GF)
  • Whole Rolled Oats (GF)
  • Barley
  • Millet (GF)
  • Bulgar (aka Cracked Wheat)
  • Buckwheat
